Vlassenbroek Flood resilience exercisβe
On 17 and 18 November 2026, The Flemish Waterway will host a two-day exercise in Vlassenbroek, Belgium. The programme will include a training with mobile barriers, levee inspection activities and a disaster management exercise.

Flood Academy at Akademie Biggesee
Crisis Management, and Dike erosion, -Monitoring and -Vegetation
Join leading European experts from Sept 14β16, 2027, at Akademie Biggesee to explore advanced flood forecasting, dike erosion, and interactive crisis roleplays. Hosted by Uni Siegen, this intensive program bridges the gap between academic research and real-world disaster response.

Bonsai Partner Meeting - Groningen, 19β21 May 2026
The Bonsai partnership will convene in Groningen (NL) for its first live partner meeting of 2026. Over three days, the program will include:
- Dedicated sessions for each work package
- A field trip
- Networking opportunities during dinners and coffee breaks
- A special session for young professionals on the evening of Monday 18 May

βMarnewaard Disaster Management Exercise
On 14 and 15 April 2026 we will conduct field exercises at our Marnewaard test site, and we would like to invite you to join us.
During these days, we will focus on three topics:
β’ Mobile barriers
β’ Anchoring pins / soil staples
β’ Closing of sand boils
Wave
Impact Testing at Vlassenbroek
From 23 March to 13 April 2026, we will conduct wave impact tests to assess the resistance of the lime-treated cover layer to wave attack on a test section of the ring dike of the Controlled Flood Area Vlassenbroek.
On 2 April 2026, you are invited to visit the test site and witness the wave impact tests in action.
