The Bonsai Project Has Officially Begun
On 11 December 2024, after nearly two years of preparation, the Bonsai partnership received fantastic news: our project was officially approved by the Interreg North-West Europe Monitoring Committee.
This milestone is more than a reason to celebrate—it marks the beginning of four years of collaboration to turn the Bonsai vision into reality.
Working Together for Climate Resilience
The Bonsai Project brings together 17 organisations from four countries, united by a shared mission: to strengthen our region’s resilience against the growing challenges of climate change. Rising sea levels, increased flooding, and extreme weather patterns—such as longer wet and dry periods—pose serious risks to our communities, landscapes, and infrastructure.
A Big Task Ahead
The work ahead is ambitious, but essential. Together, the Bonsai partners will explore and implement both short-term measures and long-term strategies to ensure that our water safety systems are ready for the future. By combining expertise across borders, we aim to create innovative, sustainable, and practical solutions that can serve as a model for other regions facing similar challenges
